- The Product Manager role is responsible for managing Managed services, ICT & Cloud products through their lifecycle to ensure they continue to deliver to the required business customers, this involves managing each Product as an asset through:
- Concept
- Introduction to service and launch
- In market performance / value management
- Enhancement and Innovation;
- Replacement / Retirement
Key Tasks
Product Management:
Define, design, deploy and mature the product management framework
Strategically manage and own the ICT & Cloud product portfolio
Participate and support the early development and scoping of opportunities for new product initiatives in collaboration with senior leaders within the company, across customer segments and wider vendor market.
Review and govern the development of the product marketing plan to ensure it includes the following;
Value proposition
Product description (features, benefits, exclusions)
Product promotion (suppliers, delivery channels, billing and communications
collateral)
Product positioning within the domain portfolio
Engagement strategy
Market segment to target
Demand and supply metrics and hence pricing strategy (revenue / profitability / cost
recovery)
Work with the wider team to produce technology roadmaps for the product / product portfolio that align with the ICT and/or Cloud roadmap.
Develop and maintain pricing policies for the product.
Plan, organise and participate in developing marketing and sales material to support the
release of ICT products including marketing plans, brochure ware, educational material
(audio visual presentations, technical data sheets, handbooks).
Plan and manage the release of ICT, Managed services and Cloud products
Continuously monitor market needs and requirements, taking into account future
technology / developments, products/services and the changing requirements of the
department and all of government
Develop and monitor critical success factors for the product in line with the product
business plan.
Act as first point of reference for all product related enquiries and work collaboratively with
support teams and stakeholders to address any issues that may arise
Proactively capture all product performance related corrective actions and suggestions for product enhancement for consideration in product development
Provide performance reporting for products including but not limited to;
Product benefit realisation detailed in the business case
Projected uptake of the product(s)
Incoming revenue vs cost recovery
Product development taking place with status and timeframes for release
Status of innovation / development / growth targets
Work with the contract management team and service owners to ensure the supplier/vendor performs to the agreed operational Service Level Agreements and contracts
The Product Manager is responsible for a product (capability) or portfolio of Common ICT Capabilities within a specific stream or domain of the agreed Roadmap (e.g. Communications, Infrastructure, Business Process, IOT, Call Center)
Experience
Experience in product management within a large organization
- Significant experience in enabling business outcomes through leveraging appropriate, fit-for-purpose solutions
- Extensive stakeholder management experience at all levels of an organisation (and externally) providing advise to inform and influence product and service decisions
- Extensive experience managing, monitoring and reporting on performance of products/services, including mitigating and resolving risks and issues
- Significant experience in the analysis of business requirements from a variety of different areas and groups and implementing strategies to enable these to be successfully met.
Knowledge
A high level understanding of product management and methods that contribute to product maturity and service excellence
A sound knowledge and understanding of a broad range of technologies and how they can be used/leveraged to enhance business requirements
A sound knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies and their practical applications in supporting business requirements
Knowledge of and experience working within, developing and managing product management lifecycles
