Position Summary
This position shall support the Data Canter’s Manager for the Upgrade project in assessing the current facility, reviewing assumptions, reviewing and verifying designs, analyzing, modifying/upgrading, and optimizing Data Center capacities, etc.
The design of this project shall be done in phases allowing the smooth transition between old and new systems avoiding/minimizing any major outage in both powers and cooling for the existing IT equipment.
Scope of Work
Operational/Technical:
• Assess current facility and revalidate assumptions.
• Obtain estimates from manufacturers/vendors for the various requirements.
• Evaluate the proposals and make sure they meet the requirements and also comply with industry standards such as TIA-942, etc.
• Review the designs submitted by the engineering and design firm and make sure it meets the requirements.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders and involve them as and when required in the various stages of the project.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents.
• Review and finalize Issued for Bid (IFB) and Issued for Construction (IFC) documentation.
• Coordinate with procurement and make sure the orders are placed on time, and the deliveries are tracked to avoid any delays.
• Oversee the on-site construction activities and actively participate in inspections, installations, testing and commissioning of Data Center components.
• Takes action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client.
• Controls IT assets in one or more significant areas, ensuring that administration of the acquisition, storage, distribution, and movement of assets is carried out.
• Assists the Data Centers Manager in developing reports, highlighting findings, and making recommendations as and when required.
• Highlights/escalate any risks and issues to Data Center Management.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of his/her position.
Strategic:
• Assists in developing targets for efficiencies using industry-standard benchmarks and tools such as PUE.
• Applies industry standards such as TIA-942 and Uptime Institute in defining the data center’s short- and long-term plans.
• Executes strategies related to project and change management activities to support the Data Center.
• Explores new technologies and innovations to make the data centers more efficient, including cooling techniques, cable management designs, and hot/cold isle isolation.
Relationship Management:
• Interfaces and communicates with other stakeholders and SMEs directly.
• Deals with vendors and support negotiations in contracts.
• Communicates technical information verbally and in writing to others of varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise.
