As a Medical Coding Specialist you will be responsible for the correct and timely coding of medical records using industry standard coding software. This work will include the translation of each patient record into a series of diagnosis and procedure codes for each patient episode using the ICD-10-CM or similar coding scheme.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage PHS KSA’s program for high-quality, timely coding of diagnoses and procedures for inpatient and outpatient records
- Completion of patient reimbursement forms for submission to appropriate parties
- Identify and code diagnoses and procedures using standardised medical coding guidelines.
- Ensure that all medical record coding work meets prescribed industry quality standards.
- Interact with physicians and other clinical staff to clarify documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate review and resolution of incorrect patient billing using the HIS
- Submit timely and accurate billing data to health funds, and prevent untimely rejections or the need for adjustments
- Retrieve and collect from various resources for reporting and billing purposes
