- Teachers at Riyadh Schools are expected to use a model lesson approach to the planning, preparation and teaching of lessons, to improve the educational outcomes for all students.
- The teacher workload consists of 17 one hour lessons, two hours of professional learning a week, and one lesson a week to cover colleagues and supervision of students at breaks and home time. Teachers are encouraged to participate in the extracurricular activities program
- All teachers will be assigned to a professional learning team to support and continue their own improvement and growth. This will be led by an instructional leader and expert teacher. Teachers will participate in staff professional learning in school teams after normal school hours.
- Teachers are expected to know their students and personalize learning in classrooms to, support all students improve. They will engage in critical reflection to improve knowledge and skills to engage students in learning. They will participate in classroom observations to receive feedback on their teaching practices.
- Teachers will work collaboratively with their colleagues to improve teaching and learning and use multiple sources of feedback to inform their professional goals for the academic year.
The core accountabilities are:
- Uses the model lesson approach to plan lessons and implement a range of strategies to improve student learning outcomes
- Implements effectivestudentmanagementstrategiesconsistent with the rights and responsibilities of teachers and students at the school with appropriate expectations and consequences
- Assesses students using the school›s assessment framework and reports on student progress at the expected times
- Participates in planning, implementation and review of the curriculum
- Works as part of a team of teachers to differentiate the teaching and personalize the learning for students to improve student outcomes.
- Integrates information communication technology strategies into the teaching and learning program to improve the engagement of students in learning
- Participates in the development of the school assessment and reporting policies and practices
- Ongoing professional learning that is applied to classroom practices
- Other duties as directed by the Principal.
